REVIEWS Artist / photographer Lucia Ravens has recently been commended with a "best of show" award from the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury at its opening reception March 12. Ms. Ravens entered a three dimensional photographic sculpture entitled "Make the Peace". "The artwork explores visual interpretations of the concepts of peace, diversity and spirituality, to encourage interactive community dialogue about peace"
Ms. Ravens also explained that it is meant to invite someone viewing it to step toward peace and realize that everyone's individual actions matter. Nancy J. Ori, photographer and juror of this year's show, commented "The 3-D presentation is with a sculptural quality, a creative work fitting the theme of the show, 'Look Up, Look Down'. Her work evokes movement with viewer participation layers." Nick Malfitano, The Coast Star - March 22, 2007 "Ms. Ravens work has blossomed into a novel form of artistry, which has delighted art connoisseurs along the east coast with its handcrafted splendor and unique vision." "Since the dawn of time flowers have inspired some of the worlds most beautiful and ingenious forms of artistic creations, from the verses of William Wordsworth, to the paintings of Claude Monet and Georgia OKeefe. For artist Lucia Ravens, of Avon-By-The-Sea, flowers are the essence of her fine art photography." Desiree A. DiCorcia, The Coast Star - February 10, 2000
