Photographer hits the big apple

Photographer Lucia Ravens attended the 5th Annual Lucie Awards held at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center on Oct. 15 in New York City. Ms. Ravens is a Greenwich Art Society member and received honors for her piece “A Portrait of Peace” in the “Deeper Perspective” category.

The Lucie Awards is a non-profit charitable foundation whose mission is to salute the achievements of the world’s finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talent and to promote the appreciation of photography.

Ms. Ravens was recently nominated to the Board of Directors of the Greenwich Art Society as the “voice of photography.” Her work can be viewed at her web site Luciaravens.com.

Lucia's photojournalism documents the Gala opening reception of "The Art of Survival" an exhibit by artists from the NY and NJ art world, touched by cancer. Proceeds from the opening night event and exhibit were donated to The Diney R. Goldsmith Breast Cancer Research and Education Foundation.

"The Art of Survival" was the vision and concept of Dr. Beth M. Deutch,the Medical Director and Founder of HerSpace, A Breast Imaging Center located in West Long Branch, N.J.

Select works from the Lucia Ravens Fine Art collection are in the permanent fine art collection of Dr. Beth M. Deutch and Larry Rubin.

Her work "Jump Into Your Dreams" has been selected by the Monmouth County Arts Council for exhibition in the 21st Annual Juried Fine Art Show at the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft. She unites watercolor overlay with her photography, referrring to this technique as,"animated photography."

Through her natural lighting photography, handmade botanical mats and hand-crafted exotic wood frames, she brings the spirit of her subjects to life.
