International award winning photographer Lucia Ravens has a fondness for nature and the celebration of all its diversity. She documents and records the moments of beauty through the lens of her unique vision. Exploring new areas of expression with a commitment to discovering the connections that help us focus on that which lies behind the lens and in between ... truth, emotion, existence and natural beauty. Travel is her lighting, the world her backdrop. Living and experiencing the flora, fauna and culture, from the Peruvian Amazon jungle of her heritage to the fertile South Pacific tropical rainforests and beaches of Hawaii, has created someone with a unique global sensitivity.

A statement by Gerard de Nerval comes to mind when asked about her floral series works:
"Each flower is a soul opening out to nature".

Living, working, exercising and creating close to water, along the quaint coastal town of Avon-By-The-Sea NJ, allows her to be one with her surroundings. The waves of the ocean gently push the calming sound through her studio, which one experiences as a color, when viewing her works.

She points us in the direction to live and revisit each fleeting moment of her creative capture. She seizes this unique and exquisite time through the lens of her camera. Lucia presents our natural spectrum, which is the window to our visible world, celebrating the visual and tactile textures of life, plants, and paper. In her,'Illuminata Botanika' collection, a compilation of over 28 works (2000 NY Debut), the fine art photography artworks are presented in her handmade exotic wood frames and handmade botanical paper mats, which proclaim the diversity and uniqueness of indigenous forests from around the world.

Best known for her composition, Ravens has produced an extensive body of floral works, she brings a refreshing array to the genre through her tonal relationships, scale and perspective. She introduced her Black and White collection 'Ethereal Energy' in 2003, in which she explores the realm of 'spiritual motion' in the present time. The 'Ethereal Energy' collection penetrates a secret of nature which present doorways to the domain of the soul. She states "We nourish the soul when we find value in the stillness of the moment in motion, recognizing that the present time is the only time there is."

The founder of "The Art for the Cure" art venue, a month long exhibit of artwork, which is held annually in October for breast cancer awareness. Lucia believes,"It is important that we support the strength, faith and hope that breast cancer patients experience in battling this disease," Ravens says, "I have chosen to do this via my fine art photography and the artistic community." In addition,Lucia has created a special limited edition of giclee prints, entitled 'Ethereal Circle of Hope'. The 8 x 8 inch black and white print is dedicated to finding a cure for Breast Cancer. The proceeds from the event go toward funding innovative breast cancer research and community education and awareness, as well as, The "Cancer Hope Network"(a non-profit Organization).

In 2006, Lucia celebrated her late doctor father's life with the creation of her debut installation work 'A Portrait of Peace-A Breath Away", a 3D sculptural photographic installation in the round with musical collaboration by NY recording artist/flamenco guitarist Adam Tully. The intimate work is a reflection of his peaceful, philanthropic and humanitarian spirit, his legacy to his family and mankind. "Peace begins with you...One heart beat at a time". TM

"Make the Peace...illuminate our world for a better tomorrow" . TM
